THE JUNGLE BOOK
I finallly found my pictures from The Jungle Book production at our grade school. All three boys were in the play. They performed it the start of April. They spend several days a week after school practicing. Matt was King Louie, Mike was Tough Tony Tiger (Shere Khan's side kick), Bron was an elephant. I was only going to put in a few pictures, but when I got going through them I found too many that I thought were really cute.

CATCHING UP
Lisa K. sent me an e-mail today complaining about how behind I am on my blog. Yes, I know, it has been forever. However, I hardly get any comments so I figured no one really cared. Thanks Lisa. I will now play catch up.
I currently use three different cameras and could only find two of them, or you would get even more from me. I will work with what I have.
Kristy gave us their toddler bed. Kali loves it. She kneels up to it for her prayers each day. I love it. She doesn't give us any trouble getting out of bed at night. She is a great sleeper.
Whenever Bron is not around she asks for him. Just the other day we were taking a walk and Bron was riding his bike in front of us and about fell over. Kali said, "Oh. . . be careful Bronson." I think this was her first complete sentence.

It has been several years since I have attended on of the Moab trips. With babies and pregnancies and I don't know what else, I have usually sent Loren without me. This year Loren convinced me to come and bring all of the kids. Darin and Angela and their kids, Lee and Lisa and their kids and Grandma and Grandpa came. We had a lot of fun. I'm glad Loren convinced me.
Matt, Mike, Canyon and Loren all rode their motorcycles. You can see Mike had a heck of a time in the sand. Thank goodness most of the trail was on slick rock.
Matt went up some pretty steep stuff and did a great job. Loren got a heck of a workout. He would ride his bike up, come down and help Mike, then walk back down and help Canyon.

Two pregnant sister-in-laws. I am amazed at the toughness of my sister-in-laws. I would have wimped out pregnant and stayed home. I love my Mercer family. They are all such great people.

Kali is a grandma's girl. If she was walking with me she would not let me hold her hand, but if grandma tried to hold her hand she would walk right along with her. It is really pretty sweet how much she loves both of her grandma's.

MATT IS A FINALIST
I received a call in November notifying me that Matt was a finalist in a contest he had entered at school. Frank Cole, the author of a new children's book had visited the schools throughout Utah. Kids from all over the state had entered the contest. They had to invent a character and personality description, that could be in one of his books from the series "Hashbrown Winters." The winning character would appear in his third book in the series. There were over 1,000 entries and seven finalists were chosen. Matt was one of those finalists. He received a gift bag and gift certificate to Barnes and Noble. He didn't win, but it was pretty cool.

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
Last week we received a call from Roger's Memorial Theatre asking Bron to audition for the part of Little Jake in the musical Annie Get Your Gun. Bron had been referred by the director of our school play. He was darling at the auditions and he got the part. We practice almost every day, even on Saturday - three hours a day. (a bit more than I had expected) His part is also a lot bigger than I thought it would be with 15 or so speaking lines, several songs and also a short little solo. The play will have a one month run and he will be performing three times a week. I hope he can hold out. Working with adults has been fun for Bron. They are all so kind and cute with him.
I can't wait to see him perform.
Bronson is growing up. He looks so much older to me and he has really thinned out. He seems all bony now. He was assigned to pull all the weeds by the basketball hoop. He complained and whined and went about as slow as he could, but he managed to get every since weed, even if it did take him two hours. (he really did take two hours and he could have done it in about 15 minutes)
We had a really weird episode with Bronson this last month. He was walking home from church through the field and a stick poked him in the side of his foot by his ankle. I don't know how that happened, but he was carried home by a neighbor boy. The stick was coming out the side of his ankle. I pulled it out. He said he couldn't walk and crawled around for the rest of the day. I figured he would stop crawling and jump up and play when we were with the cousins that night, but he didn't. The next morning he was crying in his bed and said he could not walk on his foot. It was swollen and hot where the stick had gone in, but nothing crazy. We took him to the doctor where x-rays and ultrasounds were done. Nothing was broken and there was no piece of a stick found in his ankle. They drew around the redness with a black sharpie and sent us home with Augmentin antibiotics. The next morning the redness had doubled in size. We took him to Primary Children's where they drew a line around the additional swelling. By the time the doctors could take the time with him, the swelling had grown considerably from where it was that morning. Bron was admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics for 24 hours. We should have seen a marked decrease in the swelling. The swelling did stop, but did not decrease any and he still could not bare any weight on his foot. After about 36 hours we were sent home on two different antibiotic (something really strong that they don't like to give to people). After about another four days he was finally able to walk on his foot.
It is actually still swollen, but the redness and heat are gone. This seemed like such hassle for one stickin' stick.
Bron says he will never play in the field again. I hope he will, but he'd better not have another stick jump up and poke him in the leg again!

SUGAR AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE
I cannot even begin to tell you how fun it is to have this little girl. She is all girl, but very playful and active. Santa gave her this jewelry box for Christmas. It has a ballarina that dances around while it plays music. Kali will dance with it. She loves playing with the jewelry and I love to watch her.
