and sew it goes . . . .

When I was in Jr. High I sewed a dress for Heather that I just loved. Ever since then I have hoped that some day I would have a little girl who I could sew dresses for. (Sewing for boys just isn't the same).

Over the past year I have had a lot of fun sewing dresses and skirts and even a quiet book for Kalia. I couldn't find all the pictures, but here are a few.

This is the first dress I sewed. It wasn't supposed to look like a hawaiian muu muu, but Lucky said I made a cute muu-muu. This is one of my favorites. I took a couple different patterns that I had and put them together. The dress pattern from above I used for the shirt, but then used elastic thread to do the gathers. I love the elastic thread.
I made the pattern up for this shirt and I love it. I was so sad when she outgrew it. Hopefully Melia (Heather's baby) will enjoy wearing it.

This dress was made using a charm pack. I loved all the different materials. When you tell Kali to smile for a photo, this is what you get.

When you say, "say cheese" you get this.

One Sunday Loren had to get Kali dressed for church because she was taking a nap when it started. He brought her to sacrament meeting wearing this dress. Because it is homemade it does not have a tag - this was much too difficult for Loren. The rick-rack at the top was under her armpit and the armpit hole was in the front and back - which made her chest show. Then the bow that ties in the back was tied on her side under her arm. I couldn't believe it!

That story about Loren is hilarious! MEN! As for the shirt you made the pattern up for, Melia has worn it a couple of times but we're mostly waiting for it to get a little warmer and she's still a little small for it. But I did put it on her the other day with a pink shirt underneath and she looked super cute. I told Kathy you made it and she didn't believe me. She said you must've bought the elastic part already made. I told her you made it but she still wouldn't believe me! So is it elastic thread that you use? She wants to know how you make it like that.

You put the elastic thread on the bobbin by hand so it's not too tight and then sew with it. It's really easy and looks darling!

Ha! That is hilarious about Loren! Men are so . . . yeah, I shouldn't say that on your blog. The outfits are darling. I need you to teach me.
